The Importance of Making Sex Education LGBTQ+ Inclusive

Read the full article here. Inclusive sex education is an approach to teaching sexuality and relationships that is comprehensive, unbiased, and inclusive of all individuals. Inclusive sex education makes an effort to consider all identities and backgrounds, including race, religious beliefs, culture, abilities, and much more. All of these factors can impact the decisions that someone makes about sex. This article focuses on the importance of making sex education inclusive for lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer, and other non-straight-identifying (LGBTQ+) people to address the needs of our youth.

Rose Stevenson

Rose Stevenson is a research assistant and dedicated social work student with a passion for making a positive impact on underserved communities. She is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Social Work at the University of South Florida. Her academic interests include positive sexual attitudes and behavior promotion, sex offender evaluation and counseling, and health promotion for justice-involved and marginalized individuals. She has worked with the National Reentry Network for Returning Citizens and the Pinellas Ex-Offender Reentry Coalition to promote evidence-based treatment options for returning citizens.
